Consultation of general Medicine

We provide consultations for various illnesses, including common cold symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, coughing, phlegm, sore throat, and fever, as well as lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. I aspire to be a physician who is "always available for consultation" and who "looks at the whole body." In the coming super-aged society, the number of patients with multiple conditions will increase, and this attitude will become even more important. I am committed to general internal medicine as part of my practice.

Outpatient Clinic for Lifestyle-Related Diseases

Lifestyle-related diseases are conditions where lifestyle factors such as eating habits, exercise, rest, smoking, and alcohol consumption contribute to the onset or progression of the disease. Major lifestyle diseases include hypertension, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes. These diseases are often asymptomatic, and many people ignore them even after being pointed out during health checkups.
In our lifestyle-related disease treatment, we aim for improvements not only through necessary medication but also by providing lifestyle and dietary advice to help patients make necessary changes.

Lifestyle-related Disease

Hypertension

Hypertension is a chronic condition where blood pressure remains higher than the standard values. The treatment guidelines set by the Japanese Society of Hypertension recommend starting treatment when office blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or higher, or home blood pressure is 135/85 mmHg or higher.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels remain chronically elevated. Most cases are type 2 diabetes, caused by a combination of genetic factors and lifestyle habits. Symptoms are often subtle but may include excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, and weight loss.

Dyslipidemia

Dyslipidemia is diagnosed when there is an excessive level of LDL (bad) cholesterol or triglycerides, or insufficient HDL (good) cholesterol. If left untreated, it can lead to cardiovascular diseases. Other lifestyle-related diseases include hyperuricemia, fatty liver disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and colorectal cancer

Other Lifestyle-related Disease

Hyperuricemia

Hyperuricemia is diagnosed when the serum uric acid level is 7.0 mg/dL or higher. When uric acid levels are high, uric acid, which is poorly soluble in water, crystallizes and forms urate salts. If these accumulate in the joints and cause inflammation, it is known as a "gout attack." If untreated or improperly treated, gout attacks are likely to recur. Even if gout attacks do not occur, leaving high uric acid levels untreated can lead to complications such as kidney dysfunction (gouty nephropathy), urinary stones, and gouty nodules. Additionally, high uric acid levels can promote arteriosclerosis, increasing the risk of cerebrovascular disorders (such as strokes), heart attacks, and other cardiovascular diseases.

Fatty Liver Disease (Fatty Liver)

Fatty liver refers to the accumulation of neutral fats in liver cells. This condition is primarily caused by overeating or excessive alcohol consumption (or both). Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) always progresses through fatty liver to cause hepatitis and cirrhosis. Fatty liver or hepatitis due to overeating is referred to as "non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)." Recently, regardless of alcohol history, a new disease concept called "metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD)" has been proposed, which includes patients with fatty liver and either obesity (BMI ≥ 25) or metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia. Previously, fatty liver disease was mainly treated based on the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer due to liver inflammation or fibrosis. However, MAFLD is now recognized as not only increasing the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer, but also increasing the risk of systemic diseases, including arteriosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, as well as cancers outside the liver, such as colon cancer, gallbladder cancer, kidney cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, and uterine cancer. At our clinic, we actively perform abdominal ultrasound (echography) to check for fatty liver, allowing us to detect arteriosclerotic cardiovascular diseases and cancers.
